— Lester D. and Anna Lee Carter, Kokomo, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a surprise luncheon Sept. 9 at Main Street Christian Church fellowship hall in Russiaville.
Lester and the former Anna Lee Louthain were married Sept. 14, 1947, at the home of the bride’s parents, Ellery and Evaleen (Kingery) Louthain, near Kokomo.
Lester served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. He spent the majority of his life as a dairy farmer before moving to Florida in 1985, where he and Anna were custodians of Coral Springs Christian Church for nine years.
Anna Lee was a homemaker and grew produce for the family and raised 300 chickens annually. She and Lester retired to Murfreesboro, Tenn., before returning to the Kokomo area.
Their children, who hosted the luncheon, include Pam Carter, Nancy (Jack) Fivecoate, Susan Carter, Tom (Tracee) Carter and Andy (Vickie) Carter. They have six grandchildren, Marti (Kevin) Smith, Austin (Carrie) Fivecoate, Chris (Felicia) Carter, Jennifer Carter, Rachele Carter and Lynsie Carter, and four great-granddaughters, Bree and Bethany Smith and Addison Fivecoate and Carissa Carter.
