William “Bill” S. and Lois L. Carmichael, Kokomo, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary July 17.
Bill and the former Lois Grabill were married July 17, 1953, at First Baptist Church of Fremont, Mich., by the Rev. Woodrow W. McCaleb. They met in the youth group at the church after Bill, the son of missionaries, returned from Ghana, West Africa, to finish high school.
Bill and Lois attended Grand Rapids Bible Institute and School of Theology (now Cornerstone University) in Grand Rapids, Mich. They served the Lord for 48 years as missionaries in West Africa, Great Britain and the home office of Evangelical Baptist Missions. After retiring, Bill joined the pastoral staff at Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo.
They are the parents of David and wife Jackie Carmichael, Seffner, Fla., Philip and wife Alana Carmichael, Welkom, South Africa, Monique and husband Stan Griswold, Leesburg, Va., and Stephen and wife Mayvis Carmichael, Rota, Spain. They have 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
