Wayne Curtis “W.C” and Susie Fields, Kokomo, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
Wayne and the former Susie McClory were married Nov. 10, 1972, in Greentown. They were listening to the Johnny Cash song “If I Were a Carpenter” when he proposed. When Cash sang “will you marry me and have my babies,” Wayne asked Susie, “Will you?”
Susie is a homemaker and worked for several years at Rozzi’s. Wayne is retired from Chrysler Casting.
Their children are Curtis and Amanda Fields, Peru, Stacy and Christopher Dupire, Kokomo, and Joe and Hannah Fields, Kokomo. They have six grandchildren, with a seventh expected in December.
