---- — Kokomo Police Chief Rob Baker received the 2013 William Sudbury Memorial Leadership Award from the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) at their Mid-Winter Conference in Indianapolis.

Baker was recognized for his commitment to police officers’ professional development by encouraging their attendance at the Police Executive Leadership Academy.

“The William Sudbury Memorial Leadership Award is a well-deserved honor for Chief Baker,” Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight said. “It comes from his law enforcement peers who understand the challenges for leading a metropolitan police department.”

Baker has been a member of the Kokomo Police Department for 27 years. He has served as chief of police since 2008.

“I really want to thank the women and men of the Kokomo Police Department,” Baker said. “This honor represents the dedication of every single one of our officers and our support staff to the Kokomo Police Department.”

The William Sudbury Memorial Leadership Award is presented annually to a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership Academy/Law Enforcement Professional who most consistently exemplifies the highest standards of leadership.
