State Rep. Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo) and state Sen. David Long (R-Fort Wayne) were recognized by the Indiana Conservation Alliance as co-recipients of the 2013 Legislator of the Year Award during Tuesday’s Conservation Day at the Statehouse.
“As a legislator, protecting our environment to promote a higher quality of life for all Hoosiers and leave a lasting legacy for our children and grandchildren is a priority,” Karickhoff said. “This recognition is appreciated, and we will continue to collaborate with the INCA to keep Indiana moving forward.”
Karickhoff received this award for his conservation efforts during the 2013 legislative session, specifically for an amendment he added to the state’s budget which allocates additional funds for the Clean Water Indiana Program under the Soil Conservation Division and his work on the Sustainable Natural Resources Task Force. The award was presented by Paula Baldwin, district supervisor of the Marion County Soil and Water District.
