Girl Scout cookie sales underway

Kokomo Tribune

---- — Through the end of the month, purchasing cookies can help Girl Scouts learn the basics of running their own business as well as raise funds for troop trips and activities.

The annual Girl Scout cookie sale kicked off Jan. 11 and cookies will be available for $4 a box at local retailers. Troops keep their proceeds to support trips, community service projects, career development activities and hands-on science, technology, math and engineering events.

Girl Scouts will be selling cookies at K-Mart, Kroger, Marsh, Pet Supplies Plus, Rural King, Walgreens and Walmart at various times on the following dates:

• Friday to Sunday

• Feb. 14 to 16

• Feb. 21 and 22

Girl Scouts 2014 corporate sponsors include American Dairy Association, Dean Foods and Marsh Supermarkets.

By selling cookies, girls learn goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. Customers can choose to donate their cookies to Operation: Cookie Drop, which delivers Girl Scout cookies to soldiers stationed at military bases across central Indiana and retired military personnel.
