---- — The City of Kokomo is urging residents to clear snow and ice from the sidewalks around their property and remove illegally parked and abandoned vehicles.

Homeowners are responsible for removing snow and ice from sidewalks that border their properties. A wide, clear path free of snow and ice is necessary for everyone, especially those with disabilities, seniors and children who are walking to and from school.

Snow should be removed as to not block any public right of way (alleys, sidewalks, storm drains, fire hydrants and streets).

The city also reminds vehicle owners to remove illegally parked vehicles from city streets, alleys and right-of-ways. Stranded and illegally parked vehicles create a safety hazard to other drivers and snow removal crews. Vehicles that are not removed will soon be towed.
