The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library has scheduled two librarian-led book discussions at Cook McDoogal’s Irish Pub, 100 N. Main St. Each person is responsible for his/her food and beverages. Participants must be at least 21.
Books on Tap will have a discussion of “The Snow Child: A Novel,” by Eowyn Ivey, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Alaska in 1920 is a brutal place to homestead for Jack and Mabel. Childless, they begin drifting apart. In a moment of levity, they build a child out of snow. The next morning the snow child is gone, but they notice a young, blonde-haired girl, Faina, running through the trees. In this beautiful yet violent place, things are rarely as they appear, and what they eventually learn about Faina will transform all of them.
On April 8, there will be a discussion of “Bar None,” by Tim Lebbon. Six months have passed since the end of the world, leaving a handful of survivors holed up in a Welsh manor with little to do but survive. When supplies start running thin and a stranger arrives, everything begins to change.
