Staying in the area for spring break but want to still get a T.A.N.? Purdue Extension of Howard County can help.
Youth and their parents can register for a one-day Technology, Ag science and Nutrition camp. Two sessions are being offered: April 10 for military families and April 11 for the general public. Both events are free and will take place in room 101 in the Howard County Government Center, 120 E. Mulberry St., Kokomo. Pre-registration is required.
Each day the morning session runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for youth ages 3 to 6 and their parents. The parents will learn about kid-friendly, healthy snacks while the youth explore plant science through planting a flower to care for and watch bloom. Following this portion of the morning session, the parents and youth will participate in a “Block Party” where creativity and exploration are encouraged, along with the development of teamwork and listening skills.
The afternoon session runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. for youth age 7 and older. Youth will participate in activities at two different stations. One station will focus on healthy living through a hands-on food activity. The other station will focus on ag science through an interactive science activity. The afternoon will continue with youth being divided into groups to develop a video sharing what they have learned from the activities.
The registration form is available online at www.extension.purdue.edu/howard or at the Purdue Extension Office, located at 120 E. Mulberry St., room 105, Kokomo. For more information, contact Kelly Scher, extension educator for 4-H Youth Development, at 765-456-2313 or email@example.com.
