Humane Society seeks help for animals

from staff reports
Kokomo Tribune

---- — The Kokomo Humane Society is seeking help for animals displaced by Sunday‚Äôs storms.

Those who have lost pets should visit the animal shelter at 713 N. Elizabeth St. to see if their dog or cat has been found. If the pet is not at the shelter, humane society staff will take a detailed description of the animal to reference if someone calls to report they have found a pet. In person identification is necessary and the shelter is open noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

People who have found pets should call the humane society with a detailed description. Bringing the animal to the shelter to scan for a microchip is also advised.

Foster homes where animals can be temporarily sheltered are also needed. Anyone able to care for an animal for a short period of time is asked to call the humane society at 765-452-6224. Anyone needing temporary shelter for their animal is also encouraged to call that number.

The humane society needs donations of brand-name dry pet food to distribute to owners who are struggling to feed their pets in the wake of the storm. Donations are accepted during normal business hours.
