Wildkat walk/run to benefit education

---- — As part of Spirit Week and homecoming game festivities, the Kokomo Schools Education Foundation and Kokomo Athletic Department are planning the second annual Kokomo Schools Wildkat 5K Walk/Run or 1-Mile Walk/Run Sept. 27. Proceeds will support activities of the Education Foundation, including student scholarships, teacher mini-grants, the Alumni Association, and special project endowments.

Participants should arrive by 4:30 p.m. in order to be checked in by 4:45. The races begin promptly at 5 p.m. Check-in and race-day registration opens at 4 p.m. and will be conducted in the new gym foyer on the west side of the Kokomo High School campus at door No. 13.

Race-day registration fees are $20 for all participants. Registration forms are available at the Administrative Service Center, 1500 S. Washington St. Enter at the northwest entrance off Defenbaugh Street. Questions can be directed to Deborah Vawter at 765-455-8000.

The run/walk is prior to the homecoming football game against Richmond, and participants are encouraged to stay for the game, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Participants’ official race number will serve as a ticket to the football game.

Participants will not leave the Kokomo High School campus for the runs/walks. A map of the courses will be distributed to participants at race-day registration. Age group and overall awards will be presented following the race.
