Hunger Awareness month final tally

---- — Kokomo Urban Outreach set a goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of food and $10,000 during October to help the hungry in Howard County. Churches, businesses and individuals pitched in to collect $9,995 and 11,552 pounds of food, according to a news release. The food and funds will go toward assisting the 963 families that regularly use the food pantry each month.

Collection boxes for canned good donations are located at Indiana Heartland Credit Union, BMO Harris locations, Key Bank locations, Solidarity Federal Community Credit Union, Planet Fitness, First Bank of Berne and White’s Meat Market. Additionally, Culver’s restaurant is offering 10 percent off with the donation of canned goods through Nov. 26 and McAlister’s is offering “tea for two” with a canned good donation every Tuesday.
