The performance will include pieces from Haydn’s “Creation,” Mendelssohn’s “Elijah,” the Vivaldi “Gloria,” the Verdi “Requiem,” and Handel’s “Messiah.” Stephen Roger Kitts II, of Galveston, will be among the singers.

The event is free to the public, but a freewill offering will be taken for the opera company.

First Congregational Church

The church, 505 W. Mulberry St., is hosting a Lenten Series focusing on teachings from the “Son of God” movie at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday evenings. The evenings begin with a free soup and salad dinner at 6:15, followed by the lesson and small group discussions from 7 to 8 p.m. Child care is available by calling the church office at 765-452-8285.

Fountain of Life Word and Worship Center

Fountain of Life will observe Holy Week with programs at 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 611 E. Jackson St. There will be a Good Friday celebration at noon Friday. An Easter egg hunt will be Saturday at a time not yet determined.

Church Mother Elizabeth Jones will be honored at 4 p.m. April 27 at an appreciation service.

Grace United Methodist Church

Holy Week services have been announced by the church, 219 W. Mulberry St.

Palm Sunday services will be at 8:15 a.m., 9:25 a.m., and 11:11 a.m. Sunday. A children’s Easter egg hunt will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Maundy Thursday will be observed from 6 to 8 p.m. with an open communion format in the chapel. Worshippers may drop by the church at any time between those hours at their convenience.

Grace Church will host a Good Friday service, including congregations from Galveston, Main Street, Shiloh, and St. Luke’s United Methodist Churches, at 7 p.m.

Easter services celebrating Christ’s resurrection will be at 9:25 and 11:11 a.m. April 20. An Easter breakfast will be served from 8 to 9 a.m.
