Girl Scouts of Central Indiana has begun a leadership development series called PEARLS, or Positive, Enlightened Achieving Resilient Leaders, that aims to help women enhance their leadership skills and make changes in their communities. Workshop topics include conflict resolution, goal setting, decision making, child development, financial literacy and healthy living, according to a news release.
PEARLS is open to women age 18 and older who live in Kokomo, Anderson, Bloomington, Indianapolis, Martinsville or Muncie. Workshops are 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. one Saturday a month through April. The workshops are held primarily at the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana Service Center in Indianapolis. Transportation, breakfast, lunch and child care are provided.
Upon completion of the series, women are expected to volunteer for Girl Scouts in some capacity. Those who are interested should call Charla Cannon, membership extension manager, at 855-GSCIN4U, ext. 6882 to receive an application.
