Howard County Fair seeks adult entries

The deadline for entering adult open class projects in the Howard County Fair is June 23. There are divisions in food preservation, as well as the culinary arts. Craft projects such as quilts, knitting and crocheting, woodcraft, general crafts and fine arts may be entered by adults.

For entry forms and class information, please contact the Howard County Extension Office at 120 E. Mulberry St., Suite 105, or call 765-456-2313. Information is available from the Howard County Extension website at http://bit.ly/1xEPUp3.

Adult open class entries must be brought to the Howard County Fairgrounds between 9 and 10 a.m. June 27. Projects must be picked up between 9 and 11 a.m. July 12.

Breakfast to benefit Bona Vista

Leadership Kokomo Team “Right Angles” will serve a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon June 21 at Maple Grove Community Church, 3113 W. Boulevard. Proceeds will be used to build garden boxes for residents at Bona Vista’s “The Vista” property.

The cost is $3 and includes pancakes, sausage, eggs and drink. There also will be a garage sale.

Semper Fi benefit to be held Saturday

The Marine Corps League, Albert E. Shockey Detachment, is planning its ninth annual Semper Fi Bike Run for June 14 at 920 N. Washington St. Sign-in starts at 9 a.m., the long ride (100 miles) leaves at 11 a.m., the short ride (60 miles) leaves at noon and the last bike in is 3 p.m.

The costs are $25 for a single (ride, eats and a T-shirt) and $30 for a double (ride, eats and two T-shirts).

Ride to support area veterans

The sixth annual benefit ride, sponsored by Kokomo Post 6 American Legion Riders, will be June 15 at 2604 S. Lafountain St. Sign-in is noon to 1 p.m. The cost is $10 per rider and $5 per passenger.

The cost for dinner only (non-riders and club patrons) will be $6. The legion’s “almost world famous” pulled pork, baked beans and potato salad will be served. There will be a raffle and drawings after the ride.

Proceeds from the ride will benefit Jackson Street Commons veterans home.
