Walton chicken noodle dinner

Dining with Diabetes class

TIPTON – The Tipton Extension Education Center will host a cooking class focused on diabetic diets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 1, 8, 15 and 22. The class costs $40, which includes a notebook and meals, and a second family member may attend for an additional $20.

Classes will be held in the extension’s demonstration kitchen, 1200 S. Main St. in Tipton. The classes are limited to 12 participants and the deadline to sign up is today. Call 765-675-1177 or email tnewcom@purdue.edu for more information.

Walton chicken noodle dinner

The Walton American Legion Post 418, 111 Depot St., will host a chicken noodle dinner beginning at 11 a.m. May 7 and lasting until the food is gone. The menu includes chicken noodles, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, dressing, beets, green beans, stewed tomatoes, salad, coffee, iced tea, pie and other desserts.

Cost depends on what you order. Carryouts are available.

Indiana Blood Center blood drive

The Indiana Blood Center will host a blood drive from noon to 4 p.m. May 4 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo.

The blood center is the largest nonprofit blood provider in the state, according to a press release. To confirm the date and time of area blood drives, visit indianablood.org or call 800-632-4722 and choose option 4.

Historical Society honors mothers

The Tipton County Historical Society will honor mothers with a special display and auction May 2 to 10.

The historical society will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday for tours of its vintage clothing display. There will be a silent purse auction, with some purses having surprises inside, that ends at 4 p.m. May 10. Also, from 1 to 4 p.m. May 10, there will be a reception for mothers with cookies and punch.
