Calvary Baptist Church

The church is planning an Old Time Gospel Hour at 6 p.m. Sept. 8 at 1967 W. Boulevard. The event is free, but a freewill offering will be taken.

Included on the program will be Mary Larison, Marcy Stahl, Ernie Rakestraw, Irma Sanders, and Jack and Marian Parker. Phil Drake will play piano and Patti Foust will lead hymn singing.

Center Road Church of Christ

The church will host a Branson-style concert by George Dyer at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at 899 W. 300 South. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at Joy Christian Bookstore, 1802 E. Vaile Ave.; Priced Rite, 2112 W. Sycamore St.; and Strickler Jewelers, 3210 S. Lafountain St. They also are available by calling 765-455-0938.

Dyer has appeared with symphonies and opera companies throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has performed musical theater and starred in two video series for Trinity Broadcasting Network.

Christ Lutheran Church

Pianist Jim Hendricks will be featured during the first event in the Music at Christ concert series at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at 3401 S. Dixon Road. His arrangements of traditional gospel and contemporary Christian music are characterized by technical ability and passion. Hendricks has performed more than 1,200 Christian piano concerts in churches across the country, including the Crystal Cathedral. He has also been a featured symphonic orchestra soloist of Rachmaninoff’s piano music and has performed with such greats as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Dave Brubeck, Della Reese, Jack Jones, Clark Terry, and Louie Bellson.

A free-will offering will be taken.

Faith United Methodist Church

The church, 1518 N. Faith Road, will observe its 111th anniversary with a homecoming celebration Sept. 7 and 8.

The event begins with a social time at 2 p.m. Sept 7, followed by an opening service with Pastor Janet Kelley at 4 p.m. Speakers will be Greg Cook and Jeff Newton, who both grew up in the church. Pizza, salad and desserts will be served after the service.

On Sept. 8, breakfast will be served at 8 a.m., followed by Sunday school or a time of sharing at 9:30 a.m. Morning worship will be at 10:45, with two former members speaking, the Rev. Dave Mullens and the Rev. Emmett Anderson Jr. A carry-in lunch with chicken and noodles will be served after worship.

First Baptist Church

The church will offer a free clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at 310 W. Taylor St.

First Evangelical Presbyterian Church

The church, 2000 W. Jefferson St., will have its annual outdoor worship service at 10 a.m. Sept. 8 on the east lawn. Those who attend are asked to bring a blanket to sit on. There will be just one service that day. Special guests at the service will be the congregation from Everlasting Fellowship Dominion Church and their pastor, Demetrius Warren. After the service there will be a pulled pork meal. Visitors are invited.

First Nazarene Church

“Meet Me at the Well,” a conference for women of all ages, is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 7 at the church, 2734 S. Washington St. Lunch is included on Saturday.

Sharon Reed Corbett will be the speaker, and the event includes music, breakout sessions, door prizes, and complimentary child care.

Fountain of Life Word and Worship Center

The Pastor’s Usher Board will observe the Pre-Servant Celebration at 4 p.m. Sept. 8 at the church, 611 E. Jackson St.

Pastor Larry Carther and Faith Center for All Nations, Muncie, will be special guests for the Bishop’s Choir observance of the Pre-Servant Celebration at 4 p.m. Sept. 22.

Pastor Emma L. Glenn and the Ladies of the Fountain will present “The Excel Women’s Conference at 4 p.m. Sept. 29. The theme will be “The Esther Factor” (Esther 4:14).

Great Mount Olive Temple

The church will host a community rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 14 at 600 E. Alto Road. Tables may be reserved for $15 for one or $25 for two by calling 765-453-9426 or 765-963-2680.

Hillsdale United Methodist Church

The church’s third-quarter mission focus is on Haitian Environmental Support Program. Douglas Vaughn, executive director, will answer questions about the program at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at the church, 4893 E. 100 North. Ham, cornbread and beans will be served, and the proceeds from the freewill offering will benefit the Haitian program.

In His Image

The church will sponsor a country breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. today at 2940 E. 50 North.

The meal will include sausage, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits, pancakes, orange juice and coffee. A freewill offering will be taken. Carry-outs are available by calling 765-452-7889.

Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church

The church will host its 33rd annual auction beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 7 at 5051 E. 400 North. All proceeds from items donated and commissions on consigned items go to support mission ministries, local, national or international.

Among items to be sold are lawn mowers, cars and trucks, farm and shop equipment, hand tools, antiques of all kinds, furniture, toys, miscellaneous household goods, shrubs and trees, but no clothing. There will be a bake sale, and food will be available all day.

New Beginnings Christian Fellowship

The church, 1900 S. Berkley Road (located between Boulevard and Defenbaugh) is offering a “Good Sense” financial seminar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 28. The seminar will be led by Dr. Ron Norman, who will show how money views and habits correlate with a relationship with God. It will include how our culture influences us contrary to our values and goals. He will show how to use budgets and other financial tools to move from debt to financial freedom.

Pre-registration may be made by contacting Ruth Williams at 765-860-5643 by Sept. 15. The cost of the seminar is $15 per person or $20 for couples. The price includes lunch.

New Life Assemblies of God Church

A six-session event, “The Art of Marriage,” is scheduled for Friday and Sept. 7 at the church, 1803 E. Vaile Ave.

Russiaville Friends Church

The church will host a gospel sing and meal today at 230 E. Main St., Russiaville. The cost is $7. The meal will be served at 5 p.m. and the program will begin at 6 p.m.

The catered meal will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans and cobblers (cherry, apple or peach).

The program will include a performance by New Mercy.

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church

Mom’s Day Out is planned from 10 to 3 p.m. Sept. 21. Children age 3 through fifth grade may attend.

Salvation Army

HIS will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at the church, 1101 S. Waugh St. A freewill offering will be taken. A dinner will be served from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in the community center, 1007 E. Foster St. A freewill offering will be taken.

HIS, composed of Greg Bevington, Don Dobbs and Mike Miligan, will sing old-time gospel music.

Westside Baptist Church

A fish and tenderloin fry is planned for 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the church, 3330 W. 100 South. In addition to the meat dishes, there will be green beans, baked beans, slaw, drinks and dessert.

The cost is $8.50 per plate or $4.50 if the diner is younger than 12. Children younger than 4 may eat free. Walk-ins are welcome and delivery is free. Orders may be placed at 765-868-8268.

Clinton County

Union Baptist Church

The church in Forest will have its 105th annual homecoming Sept 8. The schedule includes church at 9:30 a.m., Sunday school at 10:30 a.m., carry-in meal at 12:15 p.m., and program at 1:30 p.m.

Grant County

Grace Community Church

The Cowboy Church gospel music program is scheduled at 6 p.m. Sept. 5 at 1810 E. Bradford, Marion.

Tipton County

Hazel Dell Friends Church

The church, one mile south of Windfall and one mile east, will celebrate homecoming at 10 a.m. Sept. 8. The Esther Dotson-Coner family will perform a sacred concert followed by a meal at noon.

Kemp United Methodist Church

The church will host a free community meal from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at 228 N. Main St., Tipton.
