Medication recycling date announced

---- — Howard County Recycling District, Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo Police Department and the Howard County Sheriff’s Department have joined together to sponsor a safe disposal of unused and unwanted medications. Items ready to be discarded may be taken from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 7 to the Indiana Surgery Center circle on the main campus of Community Howard Regional Health.

The medications will be collected responsibly and processed according to Indiana law. No identification or signatures are required to participate.

Accepted items are homeopathic remedies, liquid medications, ointments, lotions, cream, medication patches and samples, over-the-counter pills and capsules, pet medications, prescription pills and capsules, sharps (needles) and lancets (in a hard, plastic container with a taped lid), thermometers (placed in a plastic bag), vitamins and supplements, and inhalers.

The program is for private, Howard County citizens only. Items from health care providers, pharmacies or businesses will not be accepted.
