Giving Tree to be displayed in Tipton

---- — TIPTON — Joan’s Giving Tree will be on display during a benefit event Wednesday at Title Guaranty and Abstract Co., 120 W. Washington St. Donations to the annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign will be accepted.

Members of the Tipton Police Department, Tipton County Sheriff’s Department, Tipton Fire Department and all police and fire personnel throughout the county will be admitted from 10 a.m. to noon. Doors will be opened to the public from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Local professional photographer Lindsey Herron will be participating throughout the event. She will photograph individual responders alone or with their families, entire shifts of personnel, squads or entire departments. Title Guaranty and Abstract will donate photos to the professionals. She will take photos of members of the public for an additional fee.

More than 30 years ago, Joan Heaton began collecting intricate, three-dimensional gold Christmas ornaments from the Danbury Mint. As she collected them, she displayed them on a the tree that she shared with members of the community for many years. After her passing this year, Title Guaranty’s board and her family decided to continue and broaden her initiative. The tree now boasts more than 300 of the ornaments.

Also during the event, several vendors will present their wares. These include: Bob’s Veggies, Cicero Soaps, Wes McGraw and Pat Parker’s bird houses and squirrel feeders, Schmitt Kids jams, The Stone Smith gemstone jewelry and leather products.
