---- — The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library and Greentown Public Library have extended the signup deadline for the trip to New Orleans they are sponsoring. Registration must be made before 5 p.m. Sept. 5 for the Oct. 12 through 18 trip.

The cost per person is $900 and includes transportation, hotel accommodations, a guided tour of the city, a jazz dinner cruise, plantation tour and lunch, breakfasts each morning at the hotels, and dinner at the hotels on the way to and from New Orleans. Optional additional tour opportunities will be available at additional costs. A deposit of $450 is due by Sept. 5.

Travelers can sign up and pay at any library location.

The trip begins on Oct. 12, when participants set off from the South Branch, 1755 E. Center Road, on a coach bus. There will be a stop for lunch and then a provided dinner at the Drury Inn hotel in Birmingham, Ala.

Oct. 13 begins with a provided breakfast at the hotel, lunch en route to New Orleans, and arrival in The Big Easy in the early evening, when travelers may choose from one of the city’s many restaurants for dinner.

On Oct. 14, after a provided breakfast at the hotel, there will be a guided tour of New Orleans, followed by an opportunity to explore the city for lunch and dinner on their own.

Oct. 15 also begins with a provided breakfast at the hotel. Then the entire day will be free to tour The Big Easy. Check out the famed French Quarter with its galleries, museums and shopping. Participants may also want to take this time to visit the Garden District, as they are on their own for lunch, and then the group will get together for a New Orleans at Night Dinner and Jazz Cruise.

After a provided breakfast at the hotel on Oct. 16, the group will tour Oak Alley Plantation, where a Cajun buffet lunch will be provided. There will be another opportunity to enjoy the cuisine of New Orleans when they have dinner on their own.

Travelers will say goodbye to New Orleans after a provided breakfast at the hotel on Oct. 17. There will be a stop for lunch along the way, with an overnight stay in Nashville, Tenn., where dinner is included at the hotel.

After a provided breakfast on Oct. 18, the tour will head toward Kokomo, stopping for lunch along the way. Arrival in Kokomo will be in the late afternoon/early evening.
