The church will also host a Chicken and Noodle Dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10. Proceeds will benefit Lisa Verbosky and help with medical expenses. Lisa is 37 years old and suffered a stroke. The menu includes chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw and dessert and is free will offering.

First Church of God

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading for children age 5 through sixth grade is planned at the church, 5937 S. Park Road. Evaluations and orientation is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 10. The cost is $60 before Nov. 9 and $65 after. Deadline to register is Nov. 15.

The church, 2020 S. Goyer Road, will have extra services with Evangelist Dea Warford at 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday. His message is, “Expect a Miracle! Your Life Will Never Be the Same.” He is a full-time evangelist and has preached in all 50 states.

Howard-Miami Mennonite Church

There will be a hog roast from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at 600 N. 700 East. The menu includes Cajun pork, au gratin potatoes, baked beans, applesauce, cake and drink. A freewill offering will be taken and proceeds will go to the student aid fund.

This year’s women’s retreat, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 9, will focus on food, faith and hospitality. The guest speaker will be Mary Pat Burrous. There will be worship, food, crafts, activities and fellowship. The cost is $15. To make reservations, call 765-395-7509.
