2nd-grader left at Anderson school calls for help

Associated Press

ANDERSON (AP) — A second-grader says he woke up alone inside his central Indiana elementary school hours after dismissal and called 911 for help.

Joyce Larry says her son was left alone in a room Tuesday afternoon at Valley Grove Elementary School in Anderson after he was sent to the office for misbehaving in class. He was then left behind when school administrators left about 4 p.m.

Damarion Larry tells WRTV that no one was around when he awoke and waited a while before calling police. He was found safe about 6:30 p.m. after his mother says she had also gone to the school looking for him.

District Superintendent Felix Chow tells The Herald Bulletin he's glad the boy knew to call for help and that the circumstances were being reviewed.
