INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police say investigators are searching for whoever fatally shot a person in downtown Indianapolis soon after the city's Fourth of July fireworks show ended.
City police say the shooting happened about 11:30 p.m. Thursday at a Meridian Street intersection two blocks south of Monument Circle. Police have only identified the victim as a male juvenile.
Police say he was taken in critical condition to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported from the shooting that happened after the fireworks show that drew tens of thousands of people to the downtown area.
Police spokesman Kendale Adams tells WTHR-TV that detectives were interviewing several witnesses about the shooting.
No arrests were immediately made.
