Driver killed in crash with combine near Huntington

HUNTINGTON (AP) — A combine and a car collided on a northeastern Indiana highway, killing the driver of the car.

The Huntington County Sheriff's Department says an 83-year-old man was driving the large farm harvesting vehicle across U.S. 24 at an intersection with a county road when the crash happened Tuesday evening.

WANE-TV and WPTA-TV report the combine's front end hit the side of a car traveling on U.S. 24 and pushed it across the road just outside Huntington.

The county coroner pronounced the car's driver dead at the scene about 20 miles southeast of Fort Wayne. No one else was in the car.

The combine driver told officers he didn't see the car approaching. The victim's name wasn't immediately released.
