Young skateboarder badly hurt in Evansville crash

EVANSVILLE (AP) — Authorities say a 12-year-old skateboarder was badly hurt when he was hit by a vehicle at a major Evansville intersection.

The boy was hit about 1 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of the Lloyd Expressway and Burkhardt Road on the city's east side.

WFIE-TV reports the driver told police he was pulling into a turn lane to make a left-hand turn from the Lloyd Expressway when the boy crossed his path on the skateboard.

Police say the boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
