Fire destroys rural church in central Indiana

Greencastle — A large fire has largely destroyed a rural church in central Indiana.

WTHR-TV and WISH-TV report the Friday morning fire is at Lifespring Church along U.S. 231 about 5 miles north of the Putnam County city of Greencastle.

Video from television helicopters showed flames and smoke pouring through the roofs of buildings making up the church's facility. The stations reported that fire crews were having to truck in water to the scene because of its rural location about 40 miles east of Indianapolis.

No injuries were immediately reported.
