Dense fog prompts many Indiana school days

FORT WAYNE (AP) — Dozens of schools districts have delayed their openings because of dense fog in parts of northern and central Indiana.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory early Monday for the Fort Wayne area and other northeastern Indiana counties, warning of visibilities of a quarter mile or less. The weather service says the dense fog wasn't expected to burn off until about 10 a.m.

The school districts in rural areas calling for at least two-hour delays stretched from near Indianapolis to the state's far northeastern counties.

Officials are urging drivers to slow down and allow extra time for travel as visibilities could change quickly in short distances.
