Indianapolis — A special prosecutor will investigate whether a Tippecanoe County judge should face charges for using his publicly owned computer to send campaign email.
Tippecanoe County Prosecutor Pat Harrington filed paperwork Wednesday recusing himself and his office from the case involving Superior Court Judge Gregory Donat.
Another judge on Thursday approved Harrington's request that Boone County Prosecutor Todd Meyer be appointed to review the findings of an Indiana State Police investigation into a Feb. 25 campaign email sent from Donat's publicly owned computer and email account. Meyer will determine whether Donat should be charged.
Donat is running for re-election.
A phone at Donat's court rang unanswered when The Associated Press called seeking comment Thursday. Donat's home phone number was unlisted.
