Police: Man shot after bachelorette party break-in

Eckerty — State police say a man broke into a rural southern Indiana home where a bachelorette party was taking place and was shot by the prospective father-in-law after the man pointed a rifle at him.

The confrontation happened over the weekend as the group of women was having the party near the Crawford County community of Eckerty.

The Herald of Jasper reports the women heard someone beating on the doors. Police say they hid and called for help while the man entered.

Police say the prospective father-in-law wounded the man in the back as he drove away.

The 39-year-old man was taken to a hospital, but information on his condition wasn't released. Police say they didn't find a connection between the wounded man and those at the party.
