Suspected burglar killed by Plainfield police officer

PLAINFIELD (AP) — Authorities say a police officer killed a man who had apparently broken into a suburban Indianapolis home.

Plainfield police Capt. Jill Lees says officers went to the house Tuesday night after a person hiding in a bedroom called 911 saying that two men had entered the house. Lees says an arriving officer found a man standing near a door who raised a gun toward the officer, who then shot the man.

Lees says another suspected burglar was taken into custody without incident at the house in a neighborhood of the town just west of Indianapolis.

She says no officers were hurt and the three adults who were inside the house weren't harmed.
