Police in Evansville say officers had dozens of calls about vehicles stuck or abandoned on flooded streets when heavy rains soaked the city.
The National Weather Service says more than 4 inches of rain fell in Evansville during Monday's storm. City police say they received 12 calls to rescue people trapped by road flooding and 27 calls about other vehicles stuck or left behind in the flooded streets.
No injuries were reported.
Police Sgt. Jason Cullum tells the Evansville Courier & Press that all available officers were out helping stranded motorists and that the department used its Jeeps and Humvees to reach flooded vehicles.
