Remains found in woods ID'd as missing woman

NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A southern Indiana coroner says skeletal remains found at a remote site in Brown County are those of a 26-year-old local woman who vanished two years ago.

Brown County deputy coroner Earl Piper said Thursday that an Indianapolis forensic dentist and anthropologist who examined the remains had confirmed that they are those of Kate McGrayel, who was reported missing by relatives in April 2010.

Piper tells The Herald-Times that no foul play is suspected in McGrayel's death, but the exact cause and date of her death remain under investigation.

Two mushroom hunters found the remains and clothing belonging to McGrayel on April 11 on a wooded ridge about a mile away and from her mother's home.
