Man shot after chase to Evansville Walmart store

EVANSVILLE (AP) — Police say a man was shot near the entrance of a Walmart store in Evansville while he was apparently trying to escape from men who had chased his car to the store.

Police say the wounded man was taken to a hospital after the Sunday night shooting, but information about his condition wasn't immediately released. WFIE-TV reports a 24-year-old man was arrested after the other car involved in the shooting was found at a nearby apartment complex on the city's east side.

City police Sgt. Jason Cullum tells the Evansville Courier & Press that investigators believe three shots were fired and that it's fortunate no one else was injured.

Cullum says a witness told investigators the two cars drove to the store after an altercation on the nearby Lloyd Expressway.
