Crashes snarl traffic on I-469 around Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne — Numerous vehicles crashed on Fort Wayne's Interstate 469 amid conditions that state police say included blowing snow and icy roadways.

The crashes Thursday morning prompted authorities to close the westbound lanes of I-469 on Fort Wayne's northeast side for a time.

The News-Sentinel reports as many as 15 vehicles were involved in one pileup, but no serious injuries were reported.

Wind gusts reaching 45 mph were reported in the area early Thursday.
