Indiana teen dies after crashing dirt bike

BUTLER, Ind. (AP) — A northeastern Indiana teenager has died from injuries he suffered when his dirt bike crashed at a motorcross track.

Indiana conservation officers say 16-year-old Tyler D. Cook of Spencerville was pronounced dead Sunday evening at an Auburn hospital after suffering a possible neck injury.

The Journal Gazette reports witnesses told authorities Cook was riding his Honda CR 250 dirt bike at the Tri-State Motorcycle Club in DeKalb County when he crashed after going off a jump at the motorcross track.

Conservation officers say the impact of Cook's crash landing left him unconscious. Police performed CPR on Cook at the scene before medics took over and transported him to a local hospital.
