Animals rescued from Indiana farm improving

SUMMITTVILLE (AP) — More than a dozen starving animals rescued from a central Indiana farm where investigators found the carcasses of more than 100 other animals are now on the mend and gaining weight.

Madison County resident Molly Gunason has housed seven miniature horses, two ponies, five sheep and a llama that were among about 30 surviving animals removed from a Summittville farm owned by Daniel and Carrie Ault.

Gunason tells WISH-TV the animals were malnourished with matted fur when they arrived two weeks ago at her property. But she says they've put on weight and are now "much happier" than when they arrived.

Investigators were scheduled to meet today to review their findings before forwarding them to prosecutors who will decide if formal charges will be filed in the case.
