Expansion of Ind.'s Lincoln State Park dedicated

Lincoln City —

The Lincoln State Park in southwestern Indiana is a bit larger with an expansion that's part of the state's bicentennial program.
The 180-acre expansion of the park near Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home in Spencer County was dedicated Wednesday during a program that included Gov. Mike Pence and other officials.
State parks officials say the addition adds land to the south and west of the park and provides a buffer for the Sarah Lincoln Nature Preserve, which is named for the president's mother. The park founded in 1932 now covers more than 1,900 acres about 30 miles northeast of Evansville.
The expansion is part of a state Bicentennial Commission program to add trails, conservation areas and recreation sites to mark Indiana's 200 years of statehood in 2016.
