Indiana Homeland Security: Stay home if possible

Indianapolis —

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is advising Hoosiers to stay home if possible because of the threat of severe weather.

The department advises Hoosiers to make sure they have a severe weather plan in place. It suggests talking to your family about what you'll do for shelter in your home and what you'll do if you need to evacuate Sunday.

The agency says thunderstorms, flash floods and tornadoes can appear suddenly with little warning and have the strength and power to cause great damage.

It also advises following weather reports on radio and television and to monitor developing conditions through local media or with a weather radio.

The agency also advises seeking shelter inside a building or in a hardtop vehicle, but avoid touching metal objects.
