State police say a southern Indiana man is jailed after a nearly 10-hour-long standoff during which he wounded a police officer and killed a police dog.
Police say a SWAT team fired tear gas inside the Sellersburg house to force the man out Monday night after determining negotiations had failed. Officers arrested 31-year-old Joshua Priddy and he was jailed on preliminary counts of attempted murder and other charges.
The standoff began after a woman called police, saying she needed help getting her husband to mental health treatment.
Police say Priddy fled into another house and fired at officers and the police dog who followed him. Police say he later shot at officers surrounding the house, hitting a sheriff's deputy in the leg. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
