UPDATE: Blast rips Fountain Co. building; no injuries reported

The Associated Press

Attica — No injuries are reported after an explosion ripped apart a small building in the western Indiana city of Attica.

Attica Fire Chief Ed O'Farrell says there's no reason to believe anyone was inside the building at the time of the blast Monday morning, but that can't be confirmed until it's searched. Rubble from the building collapsed into its basement.

O'Farrell says Family United, a nonprofit agency, formerly occupied the building but it hadn't been used for several months.

WLFI-TV reports a natural gas leak was the suspected cause of the explosion. Some neighboring buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

The Journal & Courier reports several fire departments responded to the scene in the Fountain County city about 20 miles southwest of Lafayette.
