Police search for gunman in Indianapolis shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police officers have been using search dogs in an upscale Indianapolis neighborhood as they seek a gunman who shot a homeowner in a possible attempted robbery.

The shooting happened about 6 a.m. Friday near the Meridian Hills Country Club on the city's north side.

City police investigator Columbus Ricks tells WTHR-TV the homeowner was leaving for work when he was confronted in or near his garage. Ricks says the man was shot once in the leg and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

WISH-TV reports two nearby schools were placed on lockdown because of the police search.
