A life spent in sales

Jim Thrasher retiring after 51 years at local dealerships

Jim Thrasher probably can’t walk down the street in Kokomo without seeing someone he knows.

After 51 years as a car salesman in Kokomo, Thrasher’s last day at H.E. McGonigal Cadillac Buick Jeep & Eagle will be Dec. 28.

“He’s going to have to find something to do,” said Thrasher’s son Michael.

Well-known for sending out hundreds of cards every year to current and past customers, Thrasher is also known for saying a prayer whenever he puts a plate on a sold car.

He worked for 33 years at the former Wiese dealership and for 18 years at McGonigal.
