Mickey Maurer to speak at IUK

Indiana’s former Secretary of Commerce, celebrated author and entrepreneurial guru, Mickey Maurer will be a keynote speaker at The Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours Wednesday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Indiana University Kokomo’s Kresge Auditorium. The IU Kokomo School of Business M.B.A. Association and Rozzi’s Catering will host the event. Maurer will give an overview of his new book, “Ten Essential Principles of Entrepreneurship You Never Learned in School.”

Business owners and community members will enjoy this inside look at entrepreneurship shared by the current Chairman of the Board of the Indiana Business Journal. Mr. Maurer will also take your questions at the end of his presentation. Anyone in business will gain valuable insights from this evening of entertainment.

Dobbs named partner at Starr Austen & Miller

Logansport-based Starr Austen & Miller LLP has welcomed Polly Dobbs as a new partner. She will be specializing in estate and wealth transfer planning and business and farm succession planning.

Dobbs holds a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Kelley School of Business, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. She is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the Miami County Bar Association, and the Cass County Bar Association.

Dobbs grew up on a farm and has extensive experience in farm and business succession planning. Her expertise includes wealth preservation, probate and trust administration, federal and state tax advice, business organization and general business and corporate transactions.
