Don’t forget the debates
Our reminder earlier this week to check your voter registration status served as a reminder to us, as well.
As we did in advance of the municipal primary election, The Kokomo Perspective, Kokomo Tribune and WIOU will host a series of political debates beginning Oct. 10 at Ivy Tech Community College.
If you want an up-close look at the candidates, we invite you to attend. And if you can’t, the debates will be broadcast live on WIOU-AM 1350.
Insight Cable’s channel 3 also will broadcast the mayoral and city council debates, as it did last spring. We expect to receive channel 3’s broadcast schedule soon, perhaps as early as next week. We’ll publish it as soon as we get it.
As we said earlier this week – and it bears repeating – most of us live in this part of Indiana because we care about our families, friends and neighbors who live here, too. With blessings come responsibilities. You have a stake in your community. We encourage you to get registered and vote Nov. 6.
We also encourage you to join us at the debates.
The schedule:
• Oct. 10: Ivy Tech Community College, 1815 E. Morgan St., mayoral debate, 7 p.m.
• Oct. 11: Lafayette Park Middle School, 919 N. Korby St., debate of city council districts 1, 2 and 3, 7 p.m.
• Oct. 17: Kokomo High School, 2501 S. Berkley Road, mayoral debate, 7 p.m.
