As we grow older, we look back to how we got where we are and how circumstances prepared us for tomorrow. There are choices that we all make that determine whether our lives will bring us happiness or sorrow.
At the time we make those choices, we feel it is the best or only way to go. Later on we find out maybe we should have been a little wiser. Some choices not only ruin our lives but those of our families and friends.
The words I just wrote were given to me by an old friend back in my younger days who has had a very rough and terrible life due to reform school, prison and the inability to get a good job so he could have a family and a life of leisure in those golden years that most of us have now.
So here, in my opinion, is what we want to grow old with and what can be done to achieve it so that when retirement time comes, we can sit back and thank all those people who played a part in helping us get it.
First off, the parents play a very important part in how you get started. They have to be sincere in wanting their children to grow up and get the education needed for employment that allows you to design the pattern that will take you all the way in achieving success in life. And after you do find success and you have a family, you want to carry on the training you were given with your children.
Sometimes you have to be very strict in your decisions pertaining to each of those children, because those kids will meet other kids and grown-ups who have been on a life of doing things that are against the law. It does not take long before that association turns into a crime, and that starts that individual on a life of crime and eventually prison or death.
