The days have been hot but cool at night so we can sleep either with the windows open or closed. But those days when it is so hot during the day, the house has to be cooled down all day and all night.
So the electric bill is high each month, and we look for ways to keep the house cool. I have found there are many things running in the house that really are not necessary to have on.
Did you know that cable box costs you about $8 a month? Do you really need to have it running while you are not there or asleep? What will happen if you unplug it? How many lights are on in rooms where you are not? How many times do you stand there with the fridge door open, wondering what to fix for dinner? How many times do you leave the water running as you wash the dishes? Do you need all those lights on outside while asleep?
Really, folks, I have found we waste a lot of our resources as we go day by day. We also waste gas going to the cheaper place to fill up our cars. That gas you used to find a cheaper station is lost as you wait in line to get it.
And the food most people waste after having their meals ... those leftovers can be preheated for the next meal or even the next day. We save our food that is left after our main meal in sealed bags and maybe they will be in the freezer for two weeks. Then when we are in a hurry to go somewhere, we take those bags out and let them thaw some while we are gone. We come home, put those goodies in the microwave and then add some side dishes with it.
