As I write, so do I remem-ber. But today we stay in the close present, where winter is starting to stick its head into the patterns of life.
Soon it will be cold. Snow and ice will make their way through those days and nights in which old retirees like me spend their hours inside, out of the harshness of weather that we, through the old years, worked all day and nights in.
No more for this old man. I try to enjoy what time I have left checking out what is outside and that warm air inside.
The other day, I went out to the garden area where my summers and spring are spent. I took a good look at the things God gives us during this time of year.
If you would take the time to just go outside and take a good look, you would see the Creator’s zest for what we call weeds. Really, they are plants that have all those pretty colors and designs that only He could make. What we look at, and come spring we till over, are all the pretty colors.
Even the clouds are pretty in their design. Put them with the air that is being cleaned by the cold rushing through the meadows, and you see He is always busy giving us things we don’t realize are there.
Fall is a beautiful time of the year. If you go outside when night has taken over, the stars in the sky will give you a feeling of how He wanted things to look. When winter takes over, we see the snow covering those pretty things, and we know while the growing has stopped above ground, it continues under ground.
When spring comes, you start to see the transformation of those pretty things above ground. The sun warms them and makes them grow stronger each day, until we start turning the soil over so that our planting season can start and there soon will be food for all.
