Student’s name: Taylor Parrish

Taylor Parrish’s thoughts:

“I have known that I want to become a dental hygienist for a long time. My cousin is a dental hygienist, and she is the reason I began considering this career. Now, I interact with her on the job since she works for Dr. Prather. My first day in the dental office was spent observing how the employees work as a team. Among my duties so far has been sterilizing, assisting Dr. Prather, helping other team members with fillings and filing in the front office. I feel more useful now because I don’t ask so many questions. My experience at the Kokomo Area Career Center has helped me gain confidence because I am not going to college cold. I have learned tons of things at the career center and recommend it highly. I have been accepted at Indiana University South Bend, and eventually, I hope to become a teacher like Mrs. Wetekamp.”

Tom Prather’s comments:

“Dr. Prather’s Dental Office is a family practice. Here in our dental office, we design crowns, bridges, do implants, dentures, partials, laminates, veneers and bleaches. I believe the Kokomo Area Career Center is beneficial for students to have a classroom experience and then actually see how they handle working in a dental office. Taylor has completed sterilizations, four-handed dentistry, made impressions and poured models. Taylor is an excellent member of our staff, and she continues to improve daily. Her experiences here at Dr. Prather’s Dental Office will benefit her as she pursues a dental career.”
