Deni Harris thoughts:

“I started working when I was 15, and I have been working at Outback Steakhouse for a year. I am in charge of the Board, which shows the servers what sections of the restaurant they will be serving. I also take customer names and manage their wait time, while I wrap silverware. I hope to attend Indiana University Kokomo, and then IUPUI to pursue a career in nursing. I hope I can continue to work at Outback while I attend college. It has been good to have money to pay for my phone bills, gas, and car insurance.”

Jeremy Shelby’s Comments:

“At Outback Steakhouse we try to provide the best in class dining. I believe it is good for the students from the [Kokomo Area] career center to have the real experience of work. This opportunity helps the students understand what they must do to earn money, and why they are attending school. Deni coordinates hostesses and directs other people as they perform their jobs. This experience at Outback will help Deni with any future plans since she is involved so much with the public. In addition, Deni’s leadership role here at Outback will help her when she starts searching for career jobs.”
