Ivy Tech ready to offer OSHA training course

Class begins Dec. 2 at event center.

---- — Ivy Tech Kokomo’s Corporate College will offer a 30-hour, OSHA general industry training course during the first week of December.

The course, for which participants will earn a 30-hour training card from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2 through 5 at the Kokomo Event and Conference Center, located at 1500 N. Reed Road.

“This course is highly recommended for any manager who oversees any part of OSHA-required regulations in any industry, including manufacturing, logistics, health care, retail and construction,” said Mike Federspill of the corporate college staff. “It will provide this necessary training in general industry standards and practices in a low-cost, quality and close-to-home course.”

Required topics in the class include an introduction to OSHA, walking and working surfaces, exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention plans and fire protection, electrical safety, personal protective equipment, hazard communication and material handling.

Optional topics include flammable and combustible liquids, permit-required confined spaces, lockout/tagout, welding, cutting and brazing, introduction to industrial hygiene/bloodborne pathogens, ergonomics, recordkeeping, and safety and health programs.
